Dcc track wiring wye. You are good to go. From the divergent points on the mainline turnouts where the insulated rail joiners are through the wye turnout and on the stub track back and fourth on both legs of the wye while simultaneously with the points of the wye thrown to the mainline run another consist around the mainline loop with the stock. I have made a crude diagram of my track layout double track and will feature sidings etc. In other words the polarity of the rails would be the same on all three tail tracks.
With the wye wired as ive described i can now run one loco on the entire wye. My dad and i wired a dcc specialties psx ar reversing circuit for this wye on the chessie system in johnstown on the layout. Any brand will work with the zephyr as they depend on the standard dcc to the track not any throttle. Given that dcc track wiring is both communication and power all on one wire cable layout wiring can benefit from this type cable technology.
But its also rather spendy. If youre using a tortoise or other switch machine with dpdt contacts available to throw the turnout turnout c and the tail track can be wired to use the switch machine contacts to reverse polarity. Basically replacing the dpdt switch that one would use for a dc set up. Solder rail joints between feeders andor at least one feeder each rail length.
My layout is large so diagram is not to scale. Since the tail of the wye leads to a stub end spur track the tail of the wye need not be gapped. An alternate location to insulate the wye would be to place the insulated joints at both ends of the same leg of the wye. Even though the wye is an electrofrog the gaps shown by mark to isolate the wye are the same gap locations that would be required on an electrofrog outside of a reversing section.
Lets be practical about this. This method is most useful in places where the wye is part of a junction and reversing polarity on a rail track is not a practical option. Get a dcc auto reverse unit and connect the input side to the dcc bus and the output side to the newly isolated track. 10 gauge 14 gauge solid conduit wire 14 gauge more than sufficient for 100 feet run in ho 3 feet ok between feeds closer on smaller code track.
What i am asking is having looked online wiring a wye seems simple enough but what about when there is a wye at each end of a run like my diagram. Reverse sections when you heard about digital command control and all its advantages they told you that you wouldnt need to worry about polarity issues and reversing sections. Except for 3 rail track all electric train layouts have to be specially wired when it comes to reversing sections of track.
